MOTHERS’ UNION

140 years of M U celebrations

Meetings take place in St. Andrew’s Church Hall at 7.45p.m.  Everyone is welcome

The Mother’ Union is a worldwide organization committed to Christian family life and prayer.

The aim of the society is to encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church and to help those whose family life has met with adversity.

The purpose is to be concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.

Here at St. Andrew’s Porthill we meet every month in the Church Hall for a programme of events including speakers on various topics. We have prayers, quiet evenings, outings and trips to the theatre.

Our members are involved in several projects including:

Visiting the sick and house bound.

Knitting bonnets and bootees for the special care premature baby unit.

Sending toys, gifts and knitting garments for the children in Romania.

We send Christmas cards to prisoners in a local young offenders institute.

We have various social events to raise funds for our Church and overseas

missionary work and we all have fun doing this.
